Tony Micelotta is launching his “At the Piccolo Bar” project
Auteur Cocktails at the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte
Knowing you are drinking the very best is of the utmost importance. The Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte of Viareggio has a new and highly qualified service that can satisfy the needs and wishes of its increasingly discerning clientele who has chosen our hotel for its exceptional service.
Next Saturday, September 25 from 6pm to 9pm, our new bar will be inaugurated on the ground floor of our Grand Hotel for an evening of auteur cocktails. An international expert has been invited to participate in our Martini Corner experience “At the Piccolo Bar” where our guests can have a wonderful time drinking and socializing.
Tony Micelotta is an internationally famous bartending consultant who has for years been preparing and interpreting classic cocktails that are more than just a pleasant interlude of taste. Michelotta has worked for many years in world famous venues. On Saturday evening he will present in person both a series of drinks that have made history and traditional drinks with a modern twist. Tony Micelotta himself confirms that “We will offer a menu that will go from Martinez, a much appreciated interpretation of a Martini Cocktail, to a Vesper Martini, dedicated to the actress Vesper Lynd, the character created by Ian Fleming in his novel, Casino Royale, in 1953. We will then come to the present with a Golden Martini, containing gold dust, that has a very unique history. It was invented by Joe Delgado, head bartender on the 106th floor of the Twin Towers who was miraculously saved only because his shift was in the early evening. It is our wish exactly 20 years later to honor all those bartenders who died in the terrorist attack that changed our world”.
On Saturday, we will also be able to appreciate the “Florentine Gold Negroni” made with products distilled in the Prato area and the “Martini Colonnello” which was created during World War II when Vermouth ran out in American Military Officers’ Clubs and had to be substituted with Dry Sherry. “Death in Venice”, a vodka-based cocktail inspired by the novel of the same title by Thomas Mann will be also on the list.
Our guests will also be able to enjoy gourmet appetizers created by our two-star chef, Giuseppe Mancino who directs the restaurant, “Il Piccolo Principe” of the Grand Hotel Principe di Piemonte. All this surrounded by the music of the harpist, Sara Otello.
Our new service “At the Piccolo Bar” will immediately open but it will be in full swing after the Grand Hotel reopens at the end of the winter break.
